Lenalea Community Benefit Fund
The Lenalea Community Benefit Fund is made up of three key components, and when fully operational, it will provide approximately €150,000 annually to support the local community.
As the wind farm became operational midway through the 2023-2024 financial year, the available fund for that 3-month generation period was approximately €40,000.
The fund is designed to benefit local community groups and not-for-profit organisations located within 15km of Lenalea the Wind Farm, and is distributed through the following components:
- Local Fund: Supports smaller-scale community projects with a focus on energy efficiency, safety, environmental sustainability, social sustainability, recreation and tourism, and education and skills development.
- Major Projects Fund: Supports larger-scale, transformational projects aimed at driving local development and sustainability.
- Near Neighbour Fund: Offers a €1,000 annual payment per household to residents living within a 2km radius of the wind farm
