Communities invited to Public Information Evening for proposed Littleton Wind Farm
30 Sep 2025
SSE and BnM are inviting community members to a Public Information Evening on Wednesday, 8th October for the proposed Littleton Wind Farm in County Tipperary.
The event will take place from 5pm to 8.30pm at Moycarkey Borris Community & Sport Centre at Ballybeg, Littleton.
Littleton Wind Farm is a proposed 11 turbine onshore wind farm project being jointly developed by SSE Renewables and BnM on Littleton Bog between the villages of Littleton, Gortnahoo and New Birmingham. The development will include a proposed new on-site 110kV substation to connect the wind farm to the electricity grid.
If consented and approved for delivery, Littleton Wind Farm would play an important role in meeting Ireland’s renewable energy targets and supporting security of energy supply.
The latest plans being unveiled for the wind farm have been developed and refined following feedback received from the public during previous consultations. The updated project design has also been informed by extensive environmental studies conducted by the developers.
Visitors to the public information evening will have an opportunity to view the latest design for Littleton Wind Farm, including the proposed final turbine layout and associated infrastructure. They will also learn more about the draft amenity plan for the project which includes the creation of new walking and cycling trails using the wind farm’s proposed access roads.
Members of the project team will be on hand to answer questions and provide further information on the development.
Laura Burke, Littleton Wind Farm project manager at SSE Renewables, said:
“We’re pleased to be able to host a public information evening for community members to find out more about our updated plans for Littleton Wind Farm. Visitors to the event will be able to see refinements we’ve made to the project plans as well as proposals for new walking and cycling trails as part of a draft amenity plan for the wind farm.
“The information event is an important opportunity for anyone who has questions about the project to be able to meet with our project team, and we are looking forward to meeting members of the community to be able to discuss our proposals in further detail.”
Karina Dennigan, BnM Community Relations and Advocacy Manager, said:
“We’re encouraging everyone in the community to come along and view the final layout for the proposed wind farm before the planning application is lodged in the coming months. This is an important opportunity to see the updated design and engage with the project team before the next stage of the process. We value local input and want to ensure that residents are fully informed about the proposal.”
The public information evening aims to provide information about the project ahead of the final planning application which developers BnM and SSE Renewables expect to submit in the coming months.
