SSE’s Ferrybridge Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in West Yorkshire is now fully operational, marking the successful completion of one of Britain’s largest battery storage projects.

SSE has submitted a planning application to Offaly County Council for its proposed Tinnycross Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), to be located in the townlands of Derrynagall and Ballydaly, northeast of Tullamore.

SSE has announced that it has taken a Final Investment Decision to begin construction on a new 100MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in County Tyrone.

SSE has announced plans for its Shepway Energy Park project in Romney Marsh, Kent. The proposed solar and battery development will generate enough carbon-free electricity to power approximately 73,000 homes – that is just over 10% of all homes in Kent – saving on average 49,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

SSE is hosting a public consultation evening on Thursday 8th May for the proposed Tinnycross battery energy storage system (BESS), to be located north-east of Tullamore, County Offaly.  

SSE’s largest battery project has reached a significant construction milestone, with the arrival of battery units to its Monk Fryston site in North Yorkshire, England.

SSE will host an information event in Widnes on Thursday 20 March for stakeholders and members of the public to find out more about its Fiddler’s Ferry battery storage project.

SSE is submitting a planning application to Mayo County Council for a proposed 80MW/160MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in North Mayo which, if consented and approved for delivery, would be capable of powering over 75,000 Irish homes for up to two hours at a time.*
