Littleton Solar
(Operational)

SSE’s 31MW Littleton Solar Farm near Evesham, Worcestershire entered full operation in March 2026.
The solar farm can generate enough clean electricity to typically power around 10,000 homes per year*, and makes an important contribution towards homegrown, affordable, and secure clean energy for UK consumers.
Littleton Solar Farm incorporates a wide range of measures across its 77acre site to protect and enhance local biodiversity.
Littleton’s completion in 2026 marked the delivery of SSE’s first operational solar farm asset. Construction began in December 2023 and was delivered in partnership with Grupotec which acted as main contractor for the project.
Biodiversity measures
Littleton Solar Farm incorporates a wide range of measures across its 77acre site to protect and enhance local biodiversity. These include:
the maintenance of existing hedgerows, the planting of new trees and hedgerows with locally sourced species, and the establishment of wildflower margins to support pollinators.
We are taking measures to protect and enhance the biodiversity at the site by;
maintenance of all existing internal hedgerows
the establishment of wildflower margins to support pollinators
planting new trees and hedgerows with locally sourced species to fill the boundary gap
the creation of a buffer zone around the three ponds near the site
supporting nearby wildflower grassland to enhance the ponds for great crested newts and
the creation of log piles near to the ponds to provide terrestrial hibernacula and the introduction of native aquatic plants to the ponds to increase cover

Supporting the community
We were pleased to support Littleton Football Club, whose playing grounds are located near to the solar farm.
We provided the club with £2200 in sponsorship to support the club and the great work it is doing to develop the ground into an asset for the community.
