Secure, affordable electricity starts at home – and France has the natural resources to deliver it.
At SSE, we're helping unlock that potential, bringing our expertise in developing, building, operating and investing in renewable electricity to support France's clean energy transition.
We're a FTSE 100 company with a proven track record of investing in homegrown renewable energy across the UK and Ireland, and now across Europe and Japan.
From our office in Lyon, our local team works closely with communities, authorities and partners across France to help deliver the country's clean energy ambitions.
In February 2025, our 28MW Chaintrix-Bierges and Vélye Wind Farm in the Marne department of the Grand Est region became SSE's first operational renewable energy asset in France.
The project forms part of a secured pipeline of almost 200MW of onshore wind developments across France, helping deliver more clean, homegrown electricity and supporting the country's transition to a cheaper, cleaner and more secure energy system.
We're growing across key French geographies
Based in our Lyon office, our team of more than 10 renewable energy professionals, led by France Head of Country Delphine Henri, is advancing a secured pipeline of almost 200MW of onshore wind developments across France.
By combining local expertise with SSE's experience in renewable energy development, construction and operations, we're helping increase the supply of clean, homegrown electricity and support France's clean energy ambitions.
