As part of our investment plan in Southern Europe, we are developing around 595MW of onshore wind projects in Italy.
We are constructing our first onshore wind farm in Puglia, Southern Italy. In April 2025, we began construction on the combined Castel Favorito and Masseria la Cattiva wind farm in Puglia, Southern Italy, which will have an installed capacity of 17.3MW. The project is targeting completion and reaching commercial operation in 2026.

Our Italian development team is based in Rome and our plans for growth are being delivered by a dedicated and experienced team of around 10 highly skilled professionals focused on project development and construction.
Filippo Meucci
General Manager, Italy
Filippo Meucci is General Manager for Italy having been appointed to the role in May 2026. Based in Rome, he leads SSE's growing Italian business which spans a development pipeline and operating assets across onshore wind and flexible storage technologies. Filippo joined from Statkraft, where as Head of Development for Italy he was responsible for a multi-GW pipeline of solar, onshore wind and battery storage projects. He previously developed and constructed renewable energy projects in Italy and in Brazil for Enel. Filippo holds a degree in Electronic Engineering, with a thesis completed at UC Berkeley, and a PhD in Telecommunications.
