Jubera becomes SSE’s first operational onshore wind farm in Spain
6/1/2026 12:00:00 PM– SSE’s southern Europe installed capacity is now 92MW –

SSE’s 64MW Jubera onshore wind farm in northern Spain is now fully operational.
Located in the La Rioja region, in the municipality of Santa Engracia del Jubera, the wind farm is SSE’s first operational onshore wind farm in Spain.
Construction at Jubera began in 2023 and included the installation of 11 Nordex Delta4000 turbines. During construction, around 200 full‑time direct and indirect roles were supported at peak, providing a boost to employment and economic activity in the local area.
The completion of Jubera brings SSE’s installed operational capacity in southern Europe to 92MW. SSE is also currently constructing a further 72MW of new onshore wind capacity at four wind farm sites in northern Spain and southern Italy.
Richard Cave-Bigley, Director of Onshore Europe at SSE Renewables, said:
“Reaching full commercial operations at Jubera is a significant achievement for everyone involved in delivering this project. It reflects the commitment and expertise of our teams and contractors, working together to bring new renewable generation online safely and successfully.
“Its addition as an asset to our operational fleet grows SSE’s installed onshore capacity to 92MW across southern Europe where we are continuing to make good progress in building our renewable footprint through the delivery of a further 72MW of new capacity at several onshore wind projects across Spain and Italy.”
