Glenora Wind Farm

The proposed Glenora Wind Farm comprises 22 onshore wind turbines on a site in Glenora, North Mayo, located approximately 7km southwest of Ballycastle and 6km southeast of Belderrig.

SSE Renewables and FuturEnergy Ireland submitted a planning application to An Bord Pleanála (now An Coimisiún Pleanála) in December 2023 following a comprehensive public engagement process carried out between 2021 and 2023. In May 2026, An Coimisiún Pleanála granted planning permission for the project.

Glenora Wind Farm could play an important role in powering Irish homes and businesses and in supporting Ireland’s climate action, energy affordability and security of supply objectives. The project is also expected to deliver significant economic benefits to North Mayo through job creation, community benefit funding and commercial rates payments to Mayo County Council.

Final delivery of Glenora Wind Farm will be subject to the project securing planning consent for associated grid infrastructure and a grid connection, as well as a commercial route to market and final investment decisions by SSE and FuturEnergy Ireland.
